Geocortex Essentials 2.2 Released

January 15th, 2010 by Drew

Following a beta period which extended through the holidays, yesterday we released Geocortex Essentials 2.2!

I’m particularly excited about this release – it knocks off a number of features we’ve had on our list for a while.  Over the next couple of weeks I’ll blog about some of my favorite features in this release.

As usual, the release notes for 2.2 are available on the downloads page on our Support Center.

According to the IT Team doing the upgrade:
The process says delete the virtual site you have now and create new ones with same name Or create new ones.

Really? What impact does this have on published services?

    Hi Katherine,

When you install Geocortex Essentials it creates virtual directories for the web applications, assuming the default name (for example, /Geocortex/Essentials/Web). During installation you may rename the virtual directories to whatever name you wish (for example /Geocortex/Essentials/Web_2_2).

The installer is acknowledging that we can’t simply overwrite an existing installation in the same directory – that would have a negative impact on your published services. Instead, you have the option of installing Geocortex Essentials “side-by-side” with your existing installation. So, you may give the new version a different Virtual Directory name, or you can rename the existing virtual directories – it’s your choice.

NOTE: We’ve been working on a new installer (which will be avialable in 2.3) which will give you the option to perform in-place upgrades as well as side-by-side installation.

If you have further questions about our installation or about our software, please use our Support Center at http://support.geocortex.com. The Support Center has a forum where technical questions are typically posted and answered.

    I hope this helps!
