2013 Geocortex User Conference

Now Available: Geocortex Essentials 3.14 and Geocortex Viewer for Silverlight 1.9

Latitude Geographics is pleased to announce the general availability of Geocortex Essentials 3.14 and the Geocortex Viewer for Silverlight 1.9 which introduce a number of feature additions and incremental enhancements.

Geocortex Essentials 3.14

Key additions:

  • Graceful handling of services with intermittent availability; allows Geocortex sites to continue operating when referenced map services are unavailable
  • Printing with graticules
  • Ability to configure the default visibility of layer labels
  • A new generic utility REST endpoint for extracting FeatureSet geometries to Shapefile (Used by Extract Markup to Shapefile functionality in Geocortex Viewer for Silverlight 1.9)
  • Support for ArcGIS Server 10.1 Cached Image Services
  • An updated language tool to help support translation of both Geocortex Essentials Manager and the Geocortex Viewer for Silverlight
  • Performance improvements; and
  • New and updated Geocortex Workflow activities, including the ability to set the default value(s) of ComboBox and ListBox form items with runtime modifications

Geocortex Viewer for Silverlight 1.9

Key additions:

  • A “Home” panel feature, provided primarily at viewer start-up to focus users’ attention on key information and application capabilities; these can be created and customized using basic HTML markup
  • Toggle visibility of layer labels from the layer list
  • Scale-dependent base maps. When a user zooms within set scale ranges, the base map service becomes visible; when the user zooms out of scale range, the base map becomes invisible
  • New toolbar button to extract and download user-created markup as a Shapefile; and
  • Users can change the geographic coordinate system associated with their on-screen mouse coordinates

Geocortex Essentials 3.13 now available, enables more complete internationalization

Latitude Geographics is pleased to announce the general availability of Geocortex Essentials 3.13. This product release introduces expanded and simplified internationalization, numerous additional workflow activities, and more.

Key additions:

  • Geocortex Essentials Manager can now be localized to support languages other than English
  • Numerous new and updated Workflow activities
  • Bug fixes and some other minor enhancements

Geocortex Viewer for HTML5 1.2 Now Available

The latest release of the Geocortex Viewer for HTML5 features functional enhancements and usability improvements to support mobile use cases and workflows. This release includes:

  • A more user-friendly interface for configuring viewers in Geocortex Essentials Manager, including an “instant preview” function for smartphones and tablets
  • Full support for viewing non-spatial data configured with data links
  • Programmatic commands that support feature highlighting and markup
  • Support for Esri’s ArcGIS API for JavaScript version 3.3
  • Dozens of user experience enhancements
  • New, more efficient offline and synchronization processes:
    • Easily provision an application for offline use
    • Launch the viewer when offline or online
    • A suite of feature editing tools that work online or offline
    • Complete back-office synchronization of data

Please note that the use of tiled basemaps or native device capabilities will require the deployment of a native (i.e., device-specific) application. In the coming months, Latitude Geographics will release the Geocortex App to Apple’s App Store and Google Play, which will enable the Geocortex Viewer for HTML5 to work with larger locally stored basemaps and integrate with device hardware such as a camera.

The Geocortex Viewer for HTML5 1.2 provides a further enriched foundation for Latitude Geographics to accelerate the release of new functionality moving forward; expect numerous feature additions in the months to come.

Latitude Geographics is happy to announce the general availability of Geocortex Essentials 3.12 and the Geocortex Viewer for Silverlight 1.8. These product releases offer many  enhancements and other improvements.

Geocortex Essentials 3.12

Key additions:

  • ArcGIS Online Web Map integration
  • Layer-level and component-level security
  • Site inheritance

Geocortex Viewer for Silverlight 1.8

Key additions:

  • Time aware layer sliders (ArcGIS Server, WMS)
  • Reverse geocoder (show address at point clicked)
  • Batch geocode uploaded CSV/Excel files
  • Undo/redo markup
  • Dynamic symbolization enhanced with unique value renderer
  • Query builder enhanced with spatial filter

Also being introduced as part of this announcement is our new Advanced Editing Extension for Geocortex Essentials. Beyond the standard editing tools included with Geocortex Essentials, this optional extension provides additional tools and features that enable more advanced editing operations via ArcGIS Server. Specifically, this initial release includes the following capabilities for the Geocortex Viewer for Silverlight:

  • Copy a feature from any layer to an editable layer
  • Enable vertex and edge snapping to any geometry on any layer
  • Trace complex lines and polygons with a line following tool
